In conjunction with American Mavericks in March—and as a part of our Break the Rules campaign, Columbia University Music Humanities students were asked to consider some of the American Maverick composers and to think outside the box in creating art inspired by the spirit of those composers.
Read and listen to some of their responses, including those inspired by topics ranging from the Periodic Table of the Elements to Cher and from Malcolm X to T.S. Eliot.
